  • THE INVASION CONTINUES:  I came across this photo... good times.  Last Friday I took the new student teachers downtown to explore their new home for the next few months and while I let them scamper off to look around I stepped out of the cold and into the new and nicely-warm Starbucks™ where I found two of my fellow TCIS teachers enjoying a cup of expensive joe.

Connie (left), Lupita (2nd from left), their friend, and myself enjoying each other's company outside the school.

STUFF TOTALLY UNRELATED:  I've moved my trip to China to Spring break rather than Lunar..  Everyone said it would be a zoo, or moreso, in Beijing during Lunar plus its currently pretty darn cold here so it will be even colder there.  By Springtime it'll be nicer, Lord willing.

    FRIDAY IS ALMOST HERE:  Yay!

  • Nice picture! I am currently planning my reandevous with starbucks on saturday. It is SO expenisve but SO worth it!

  • Sounds like something I would pay to see!

  • Starrrrrrbuuuuuuucks!!! Wahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And yes, there is.  It was cancelled, because, get this...

David Lynch thought that was a perfect place for it to stop.  Post explosion.  He is truly an evil genius, is he not?

    =D

  • Hay...I think I would like the Sign place better...but it's the pays the least...50 cents more for the art institute job but then I'd have to dress up all the time...hmmm...pros and cons.

Thats funny about the never fitting in - in China...but how many times are you going to be in China.

How expensive is Starbucks there? Nice treat!

  • Well, the problem is that we have both read the books, which will make any movie fall short to the glory of Tolkien (LOL). In general, the movies were okay, I was really FURIOUS when Haldir died in the Two Towers (you know that in the book he doesn't die, he goes into the west at the end). Haldir is one of my favorite characters.

As for the Return of the King. I felt robbed from "historical accuracy" more than I am willing to admit. I still enjoyed the movie, but I certainly felt shafted from the fact that there was no "Shire" episode at the end. The way Denethor died, the fact that Elrond's sons didn't fight in the battle of Pelennor fields, the impersination of the "voice of Sauron" and a few more things were subjects of my displeasure.

Again,  no movie will ever be able to cope with the imagination of Tolkien, but I kinda did expect Peter Jackson to be a little accurate with some of the stuff that happened.

    Got to, cya

  • Hey, do you see Mel much? I'd love to see a pic of her somewhere.
