  • TALK SHOW:  First thing, for a good read about love, read I Corinthians 13 again (she
did).  So last night I’m on the phone with Rach around 8:30pm and
we’re discussing a semi-serious topic that might become a thing
later on in life and I look up at the clock and its 8:59pm… So I said
to Rach, “Rach, I love ya, but I gotta go Lost is about to come on,
I’ll call you back later.”  Yeah to most of you that would seem
heartless and cruel, but concerning Lost and Clemson football,
thankfully Rachel and I have an understanding.  After the show I
called her back and we tied up the loose ends.  Rachel is really
good like that.  Very understanding (which, guys, if your girl is
cool like that then she is a true keeper).  However that kind of
love is a two-way street, so knowing the difference between a
semi-serious and a serious conversation and placing importance on those
situations really matter to most women.  Had it been a serious
thing then I would do the right and noble thing, value Rachel and ask Bethany to record the episode for me.

  • BIDDING THEIR TIME:  If you like zany auctions from ebay, then you’ll love this (sent to me by my sister).

“POWDERPUFF” GIRLS:  This Friday night, Rachel and I will be heading up to Wren High School to see this girl try and play football… you gotta love seeing girls trying to act like football players.  Currently trying to talk HannahWitta and Jacob into coming along.  Hopefully my little cousin Cody will be there so good times to see him.

SHOUT!  SHOUT! LET IT ALL OUT!:  I thought I’d be uber-generous by sharing some other fantastic xanga sites to visit… if you are into graphic design (or anything having to do with art) go here, if you are into all things um… er.. ah.. taboo then check out this site.  If you are into some fine literary expressions about life and other things, go here and here.  Perhaps your tastes are for a southern intellect, then click here for a true finger-lickin’ good time.   If you are into strange foreign men… click here or if you are just into strange men, go here.

  • WHERE IS GOD WHEN IT HURTS?
I have been on the reflective side a bit on the spiritual essence of
things lately and daresay, since my time in Korea my times with God
have been pretty stale.  I would best summarize my spirituality
somewhere near not running from God but basically wanting to be left
alone.  Yes, Korea did leave some big time wounds and left me with
a very bitter taste in the mouth for serving in ministry.  Instead
    of encouragement, there was crushing.

Living here outside of Clemson has been good.  God has provided me
a place to sleep, a car, school, a super-caring group of people I get
together with on Sundays and a great gal who lives less than an hour
away.  This time away from it all has been so good for me
spiritually and emotionally.  Examining all this I can’t help but
thank God for his love for me.  I’ve actually gotten to know some
nice people around here.  Growing up and coming down to visit Nana
and John, I never went out of my way to make friends with any kids who
lived near them… what would the point be, my family would leave the
next day to head back home.  So I am very cautious about wanting
to invest into people when suddenly they are yanked out of my life
(moving around a lot when you grow up will do that to your social
life)  I have built a lovely wall.

So back to the main point, Jacob invites me to join him at a Bible
study that he attends on Monday nights with Clemson students who attend
DCF.  Tonight’s passage was out of Galatians 2.  God really
spoke to my heart from verse 16 which says, “[we]
know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in
Jesus Christ.  So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that
we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law,
because by observing the law no one will be justified.
    “
Paul is trying to show the early Christians that observing the law does
not lead to justification.  For example, I have never received a
speeding ticket but I know people who have.  They received the
ticket because they did not observe the law of the speed limit.  I
have never known anyone to get pulled over by the police for observing
the speed limit… the law was not meant to reward, but to
convict.  As Paul tried to explain to these young Christians…
the law was not meant to justify.  The part that jumped at me was
the two contrasts: (a) Faith in Christ (b) Observing the law.
Faith versus observing… God convicted me (i.e. pulled me over
tonight) and showed me the error of my ways.  I have switched from
“faith in Christ” to “observing Christ”.  It is time for this
wounded and wayward sheep to return to the fold.  I needed
healing.  Thanks for letting me air my pains and hurts.

  • [First, a huge huge huge thanks to B
for recording the season premier of Lost for me, she went totally
beyond the call by not only recording it to DVD and cutting out all the
commercials but suggested that I become the joke writer for Blues
Clues.  For such, an awesome job of showing me nothing but love,
not only will she receive one of the most sought after treasures known
to mankind (a Will Christmas card) but a cartoon that I will personally
    draw for her about her

    DOWN BUT NOT OUT:  Clemson
lost again… that’s all that needs to be said about that.
However it was Rachel’s first tailgating experience.  It all
started Friday night as we made our excursion to pick up our late food
    supplies.

Bi-Lo: When tailgating budgets are tight… you probably need to shop somewhere else

We get to Clemson and park on campus, Rachel decked out in orange makes my heart swell with pride.

HOUSE OF STYLE: Fly girl Rachel (left) and Truck driver Rachel (right)

    ITS IN THE CARDS:  We
meet up with Jacob who happens to have been attending the same church
that I started going to… small world, small world.  We had good
times playing a card game Rachel played growing up in Africa.

Ever the card shark, Rachel teaches Jacob the secrets of “card counting”

    MIND YOUR P’S AND Q-BALLS:After
the game, we headed over to Jacob’s apartment to chill after the
*tough* game, HannahWitta came over and Jacob made lasagna (thumbs up
to the boy for this).  His roommates came in and we ended the
night playing pool and watching other various football teams get
slaughtered (like Georgia Tech for example).

TOP: Catching up with HannahWitta   BOTTOM:  I look on to see how Tony will do on the break

Great time overall, food was great, company was great and spending lots of time with Rach was total quality.

  • BABY GOT BACK:  Today in psych class, the
nutty professor (the very one who was thrilled that her class did so
well on the first test via the 73 grade average), was today lecturing
on the history of childhood.  Lloyd de Mause was a child
psychologist who studied this and was repulsed at what he discovered
about infantcidal practices throughout history.  She continued on
about how much we know more and totally disapprove of those ancient
practices… this intrigued me greatly… I do not know where the nutty
professor lies on the issue but my hunch is that its probably more left
than right.  I, then asked, very politely about if we as a culture
look down upon then how do we justify abortion as not
infanticide?  She didn’t feel comfortable answering it… but said
that each person needed to reflect on their own views and thoughts
about that… whatever.  If this gal was here, I know she’d lead the charge but I’ve learned to close my mouth before it got me into trouble *sigh*

TIGER TAILGATING:  Saturday kicks off the 12pm game between Clemson
and Boston College.  As exciting as that sounds for you non-Tiger
fans, it’ll be Rachel’s first experience in tailgating!  We’ll be
arriving on campus around 8am and meeting up with Jacob (HannahWitta’s
new guy friend).  Hannah won’t be at the game unfortunately but
we’ll meet up afterwards at Jacob’s place.  Be patient my friends
as I will NOT forget my memory card this time.

  • PREMONITION THIS:  With this on everyone’s mind how could anyone expect to play well last Saturday!  I know several peoples who are anxiously awaiting when we discover what is exactly under the island.  Meanwhile, Will is going to be in Toccoa at First Alliance church to listen to Rachel’s parents speak.  Was it a hard choice, yes, but since when has choosing to value others over oneself ever been easy?  All I gotta say is thank goodness for VCRs ^^  Holla if you hear me!

  • HURRICANED:  Clemson
lost to #13 Miami in triple OT 30-36 after an amazing Tiger comeback,
down 20-10 with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter.  My voice is
shot, my skin is burned but it was an amazing game to say the
least.  I got to the stadium and realized that I had left my
memory card at the house.  Other than that, had a good time but
now I want to go crawl into Rachel’s arms and cry.

  • GAME TIME:  Finally, its
Saturday!!!  Going down to the valley for a football game against
a nobody team called Miami.  In the meantime you can go here for some quality listening entertainment.  Pictures to come!

    THE ART OF TRANSLATION:
Rachel’s dad flew in last night from W. Africa.  He’s been working
on a translation of the Bible into Kissi.  Glad he’s safe.
    Here’s to you, Craig.

    NEW BLOGRING:  Check it
out, I formed a blogring which I hope to be an instant success, so for
all 6 of you who read my site, if you can relate or just care to
understand then please join, “I taught my girlfriend about football”.

  • WEEKFULL OF NOTHING:
Sorry for not updating but this week has been pretty blah.  Yes,
blah.  I go to school, sit in classes, take an exam or two and go
home.  There’s gotta be something to spice it up… oh but wait,
    there is.

    WEDDING PLANS:  Okay, I
cannot put it off any longer but its official!  Rachel and I are
not engaged but my good friend Chad Smeiles is and he asked me to be a
groomsman in his wedding in January.  Should have some good times
with that.  Yesterday, I drove down to Clemson and got measured, I love driving through the place, just something about it, if you’ve never experienced it.

    MEET THE PARENTS:  This
Sunday after church I will be taking my folks down to meet Rachel’s
folks for a nice lunch.  I hope it goes well.
