  • “EVERYBODY LOVES A CLOWN… BUT WHY DON’T YOU?”
Drove down to Atlanta to party with these two fun gals
(it was nice of them to invite a couple others as well).  The
costumes didn’t seem to be a problem until I found out that all the Ryan Cordell
masks were sold out so this had to make do… but unfortunately mine
was neither scary nor funny enough, adjustments had to be made:

Rachel and my original clown costumes

LEFT: Yikes!, too scary (check out the pumkin down behind me) RIGHT: Throw in some Hawaiian chick and voila, party sensation!

I created this pic awhile back but thought it would be appropriate for Halloween.  Chris, V, I wanted you to know that I think of ya.

    How you like them RAs?

  • HAIKU FRIDAY
    About shallow people,
    frontin’ and maxin’ about
    dying to impress.

    INSANE CLOWN POSSE
About to head down to Smyrna to see B and Christine
Their HALO-ween party is tonight with the theme: Clowning Around.
Everyone is supposed to dress up as clowns…chin-cha.  Huzzah!

    MY GIRL
Was down at Rachel’s studying for
biology (yeah great date for 8 months), I bought her the new limited
edition Cinderella DVD.  She loves it.  What is it about a
story where the woman is neglected and abused to be rescued by a
dashing and handsome prince that touches every woman most?  The
guy comes to save the girl and takes care of her.  Great role
models… my how far Disney has strayed.

  • [To
    Juice, Sassy, and Pierce
(even though you weren't there, but stuck in the hospital sick as a
dog) I dedicate this poste to you all for changing my life and simply
    having good taste.]

SHIRT, SHOES AND THAI ARE REQUIRED
Between classes yesterday, I was reading Psalm 3 in the snack lounge
and at the table next to me was a group doing a little Bible
study.  I wasn’t paying too much attention until I heard someone
mentioned Thai food.  It was difficult to remain focused after
that, but I finished up my reading and journaling and fiddled my thumbs
until the group finished.  I approached them about this mysterious Thai
restaraunt to discover where its location might be… sadly they did
not know of such a place they were just talking about Thai food… sigh.

    Happy 8 months, Rach.

  • DYNAMITE CONSPIRACY
Was planning on going to bed but just had to get one more game of Rygar and came across this startling piece which then jogged my memories back to a certain movie this guy introduced me to… hello?  Possible copyright infringements?  You be the judge.

LEFT: Some bald, buff guy gives wise advice to our hero RIGHT: Facing off against “LIGAR”

Okay, enough foolin’ around, I gotta try and go back to sleep… this should sate her appetite.

  • THE BOONDOCKS
Rachel and I returned from Lil’ Roadtrip ’05 (not to be confused with
“Big Roadtrip ’05″) to go see my sister up in Boone.  Lindsey has
done a much better job of driving down to visit and with this past
weekend being Fall Break, Rach suggested we head up to see her.
Had a good time, weather was unbelievably cold, but thank goodness for
proper housing insulation.  Ben had an old Nintendo which we
played to bring back some nostalgic memories of many a wasted summer
    day.

LEFT: Ben gives the tour of downtown Boone  RIGHT: Lindsey gives a tour of the young adult section at the library

LEFT: We stayed at Lindsey’s crib (there’s the couch that kitty always peed on) RIGHT: Rach & Lindsey carve a kitty pumkin

LEFT: Saw these and thought about Cordell RIGHT: Scene from Plan 9… utterly horrible

Okay, that’s it for now, Its nice to know that some people are hopelessly addicted to the going-ons in my life.  Speaking of hopelessly addicted, I hope this person, enjoys this.

  • MOUNTAIN TOP VIEWING
Currently visiting my sister up in Boone, North Carolina.  Last night we watched Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 from Outer Space” at the local library, where Lindsey works.  Rachel and I will be heading down to Concord to see mom later on today.  Pictures to come.

  • LONG LOST MEMORIES
Tonight’s episode of Lost was refreshing to see the memories from Jin
and Sun from Korea brought back some memories, the city of Namhae (yes
I have been there, aren’t all my non-Taejon
readers jealous?).  Of course if you didn’t know, that is
authentic Korean being spoken, like “meegook” means “American”, I still can pick
up alot of it… well mostly bits and pieces… but I still anxiously await for “chin cha” ^^

    THE NEWEST HARNER
TFC alums Matt and Christie Harner gave birth to their daughter Emma Rachel Harner, Sunday night.  She’s a cutie.

  • DANGER WILL ROBINSON!  DANGER!
A good buddy of mine is going through a tough time, yeah, don’t we all
at some point?  I was chatting with said friend and I realized
that my futile attempts to help probably were just that, futile.
God, I hate pain… but fortunately its necessary according to Phillip
Yancey, in his book “Where is God When It Hurts”.  Pain is
necessary to tell us that something is not right, its our brain’s way
of stopping us as to allow healing to begin.  That, however
describes the physical pain.  What about the emotional and
spiritual wounds that are all scarred up and yucky hidden away under lock and key
from the judging eyes from anyone who would dare come close?  I was really
scared when Rachel wanted to know more about me and my life because I
would have to show her what’s been in my trunk, things from my past and
wounds that I have never allowed to fully heal.  She has her own
trunk full of the same things, and as we sat there rummaging through
our trunks together I realized that she is someone I know I can trust
because she made herself vulnerable to me just as I was to her.

How I wish the Church was more like that… unfortunately, there are
few churches who function in this manner… the closest representation
I have found is at the local alcoholics anonymous meeting.  Think
about it, a group of people who are struggling with the same vice,
wanting to change, coming together, confronting it and helping each
other stand up against it.   Nothing glamorous about it but
then when has God ever used the glamorous things of the world…

  • FROST-Y ROADS
Have you ever been in a situation looking back at life where you
wondered “what if..”?  What if you did decide to throw caution to
the winds, took that road into unfamiliar territory, something that you
felt passionate about?  As Robert Frost’s most famous line goes,
“I took the road less traveled and that has made all the
difference.”  I have thought about this for the past couple of
days, I haven’t told anyone about these ideas because, well, they are
so off-the-wall you should probably have me thrown into an mental
institution (they’re coming to take me away, haha).  See, I enjoy drawing comic strips and I would love
to learn more about the art and improving (I suppose this was instilled
into me from watching too many cartoons as a child).  As easy as
it would sound just to go take classes at some art school, see, I am
already taking classes studying phsyical therapy.  I am enjoying
the Medical Terminology class alright, it is a very good and bright
career choice versus the low demand for artists *sigh*.  How sad
is that, I am almost 26 years old but sounding like a 50 year old.

    WHATTA MAN
A small group from church has been doing this study on biblical manhood
that I recently joined in.  Yesterday at the session, one
statement really struck all of us, “Real men reject passivity, but
accepts responsibility.”  If you are a man, doesn’t that blow you
away?  The example was given of Adam not stopping Eve from eating
the forbidden fruit, but watching her, doing nothing.  That is a
good example but the way it struck me was how I need to fight being
lazy.  Laziness is something I excell at, unfortunately.
Wow… rejects passivity, but accepts responsibility… that’s a real kicker.

  • A CAT’S TALE
I thought today how much I like cats… they are interesting creatures
indeed.  Rachel laid down the law that we can name the cats, Jad and Reggie but not any future children.  However, that being light years away, allow me to regale you with Rufus…

    The many faces of Rufus

Rufus: after a good hunt finishing it off with the ceremonial licking of the chops

    THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Clemson plays at NC State tonight and I will be heading over to
watch the game with a couple guys at Jacob’s apartment.  One of
these days when I’m not uber busy I’ll have to take over my PS2 and
introduce them to NCAA Football 2005 and totally run the score up on
    them all Mwahahaha… ha.
