  • HAIKU FRIDAY
    Peppero is good,
though wish it had more chocolate
    I can’t get enough.

HAPPY ARMISTICE DAY & PEPPERO DAY TO ALL MY PEEPS IN KOREA

ITS MY PARTY SO I’LL BUY IF I WANT TO
I recently broke down and bought the Batman: Hush
hardback… I don’t know why, its pretty expensive but Books-A-Million
was having a 20% off sale on everything *sigh* Happy Birthday to
me.  As the holidays roll around (stinks having a birthday so
close to Christmas) but people begin asking me what I want for my
birthday and/or for Christmas… well, I’ve never been good at telling
people what I want because growing up, everything that I wanted was
“too expensive” so with longing and unmet expectations holiday
receiving has always been a drag to me.  That’s why whenever I buy
a gift for someone I try to watch and listen to what their interests
are and surprise them… Its not too terribly hard, showing that I
value them enough to hear them talk about themselves and their
interests.  About two Christmas’ ago I got chewed out by someone
about how lame my gift was and blah blah blah… I had good intentions
however I suppose that was not conveyed loud enough.  I
did learn two things that night:

    1.  Its okay to ask others for help in gift-buying.
    2.  My life in Korea was not going to be the same.

[*EDIT:  to be fair to said individual, we did talk about an hour
afterwards and came to some understanding and resolution, but the wound
    never fully healed.]

  • WEIRD SCIENCE

My bio lab could be a whole lot more
boring class (2 hours long) if it weren’t for my lab partners, Nick and
Byron.  We started the class off wanted to earn a good grade but
for some odd reason (i.e. me) the experiement always went south.
However, we turn in our write-ups and got an pretty much get A’s… so
now its a game to see who will screw up the assignment.  Last
class we went out to the stream on campus to collect critters and study
    them.

Hi Byron and Nick, when you’re down here, you’ll float too…

The secret to surviving typically boring
classes is community, I don’t know how I’d do it without these guys, we
keep each other awake and laughing.  Cheers to you two.

    BTW (BY THE WAY)

  • A HANDFULL OF KNOWLEDGE
I keep coming back to that age-old question, brought you in part by Virginia (where snazzy style and the uber-educated meet).  “Would you rather be an expert in one thing or a handy jack of all trades?”

  • THIS WILL BOWL YOU OVER
This will please this gal, as only few things ever do.  I
originally started this out as a “reward” for my excellent diet skills
for the past couple of weeks by going from OK-but-healthy “Basic 4:
Whole Grain” cereal to yummy-but-not-as-healthy “1/2 the sugar Fruity
Pebbles”.  I was shocked to discover this:

1/2 the sugar Fruity Pebbles versus Basic 4: Whole Grain

    • Sugar
      • Fruity Pebbles – 5g
      • Basic 4 – 14g
    • Calories
      • Fruity Pebbles – 150
      • Basic 4 – 240
    • Sodium
      • Fruity Pebbles – 230mg
      • Basic 4 – 320mg
    • Carbs
      • Fruity Pebbles – 22g
      • Basic 4 – 42g
    • Total Fat
      • Fruity Pebbles – 1.5g
      • Basic 4 – 3g

Whoever thought that a kid cereal would be better for you than one
of those healthy cereals that’s placed on the opposite end of the
    aisle?  However, a lady
out in somewhere, California is suing the big 3 cereal makers for
misleading nutritional advertising… part of me hopes she’s right and
really sticks it to The Man but the other part does not want to give up
my good & tasty Fruity Pebbles.  Go healthy and yummy cereals and we all win out!

  • You’re Italy!
You pretty much feel like you are the most long-standing bastion of civilized humanity on the face of the earth.  While this is probably not true, you do have a noted history of living the good life and spreading culture to those around you.  More recently, however, things have started to slide and you’re having a hard time staying together and not getting beaten up.  People still like to ask you how it was to be the center of high culture, but your days at the top are long past you.  Avoid volcanoes, flooding, and unstable buildings wherever possible.

Thanks to Drew for this interesting quiz. Hey be a pal and read my Friday post about the pornstar (if you happen to read the other articles then you will be that much cooler).

  • HAIKU FRIDAY
    Freedom is outside,
trapped indoors I have no wants,
    daily losing it.

    BATMAN BEGINS… AGAIN

Yes, one of my new favorite movies.  Just as Cinderella appeals to
women this movie appeals to men for the sheer aspect of Bruce Wayne
does manly things such as the following:

    1. Beats up evil villains
    2. Has lots of cool gadgetry
    3. Beats us more evil villains
    4. Learns deep lessons about fear and uses it as a weapon *booyah*

The last point is what hits home for me, Bruce goes about first beating
up criminals using anger as his weapon but a group begins to disciple
him that vengance will only hurt him… they help Bruce to confront his
fears and overcome them (namely the guilt of his parents’
murder).  For guys, this is something we can all understand, we
all have fears and fear is one of the central themes of the
movie.  The movie was very well done, I pray that Warner Bros.
doesn’t screw up the sequel which is slated to be released in 2008.

YES, AS A MATTER OF FACT I DO HAVE CLASS
Got signed up for Spring semester classes… sadly
I could only take one.  This year the PTA program adjusted the
schedule so that Biology 101 became a pre-requisite class for many of
the med classes that I need to take in order to be accepted into the
PTA program for next year, however with the addition of Bio 101, this
pushes my schedule back into the Summer which is after the deadline for
gaining admission into the program.  When I apply in March I will
have to apply as an alternate instead of a regular applicant, meaning
that if there are spaces available then alternates can fill those
slots.  There only 24-26 slots for the program this year and GTC
draws from about 5 different campuses… which means I have a good
chance of not being accepted into the PTA program for next year (yeah
bummer).  So I now have followed the way of the dark side
and signed up to earn a certificate in Web Graphics/Design.  I am
interested in this, I can’t wait to see what happens.  If it all
works out or not, I’m cool with whatever… its funny how fickle my
interests are but this interest has been going on for a couple
years.  Speaking of fickle, visit this gal’s site and read the interesting junk she posts (oh and be sure to leave a comment… she’s sorta got a quota to meet).

    HELP A PORNSTAR OUT
    If this doesn’t catch your eye… I doubt nothing will… anywho, I
normally do not get into this subject too much because it delves too
deep into the taboo… but I am working to improve.  Anywho, check
out this the Trinity Project, its a thing started by XXXChurch.com,
Craig and Mike (the pastors) met a woman who starred in pornos and was
a prostitute, named Trinity, who is trying to get out of the porn
industry.  Craig and Mike are working to raise money to help
Trinity move from Las Vegas to Indiana where she can raise her daughter
out of that influence and go attend classes at beauty school.
They’ve made arrangements for whatnot but they need help with the
bling… I gave, and so can you.  Help this lady out, even if its
a couple bucks.  Click here to read the story.

  • SCHOOL VIOLENCE
During psych class one would expect to continue the lectures on young
adult and their rapidly evolving mental capacity as they jet along the
path of life, but instead heard stories about domestic violence.
True story here: some time ago recently at GTC
an enraged husband tracked his wife down by following her to
class.  His reason for being upset… she was attending
classes.  This brought back flashbacks of “Mr. Red” in
Korea.  I immediately thought out the plan that I’d get all the
students lined up against the wall and barricade the door with desks
and lecturn so that anyone wanting to do us harm would not get in and
just simply wait for our speedy and heavily-armed school security
guards to arrive to take the buster off to prison.

Golf… er… security cart that pursues criminals at an extreme 9 mph…  wonder if the plastic tarp is bullet-proof?

    WHAT A NICE GAL
Monday I went over to the Bible study with a group from DCF.
We’ve been going through Galatians (hence the “Gal” in the title… wa
wa wa waaaa).  In chapter 3, Paul is amazed at how quickly the
Galatians are deserting the gospel for one of works.  Its all
about faith in Christ that brings righteousness, not the law.  We
spent the time talking about how those in Christ are now heirs through
God.  This made me think about something that Paul doesn’t teach
on but what is Heaven like?  Do works make a difference in the
eternal?  Does someone who forsakes all the worldly things for the
sake of the Kingdom receive a better Heavenly experience?  I would
say no.  Jesus told the paraple of the vineyard where he went out
and hired workers at 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 6pm.  He paid the
workers a full days wage those who worked one full hour and those who
worked all day.  I’m afraid that many of the religious things that
I have done are used for a heavenly upgrade (a pool in the backyard of
my mansion with many rooms)… Lord, help us to do things because we love you and love others.

Oh, BTW, remind me to post about one of my fave movies, Batman Begins

  • SAINT THAT A SHAME
Happy November ala All Saints Day.  In the spirit of this RA, there are 20 days until my birthday, so get crackin’ ma nizzles.

    BATTY NO MORE?
    My literary
readers might find this quite interesting, Anne Rice, author of many
occultic vampire and witch books such as: “Interview with the Vampire”
and “Queen of the Damned” has become a Christian.  Her new book looks promising, “Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt”.

    TESTING MY PATIENCE
This week I have three tests to prepare for,
Medical Terminology (Digestion), Biology (Mitosis and Meiosis) and
Intro to Computers (Powerpoint).  Grrrr… gotta study.
