THE VIEW IS NICE FROM HERE
After my interview down at TFC Monday I ran into the world famous Dan Hood. It was one of the greatest pleasures in my life. Really. I'm so envious of those of you in Korea who get to be around him No, not because he's Dan Hood but that he's related to Virginia Hood. Yep, she's all that. If I had a sister like Virginia I know I couldn't go wrong. How I miss our little philosophy chit chats and how well she and Drew fit my stereotype of English majors.(Random Chris shoutout)
The interview was a killer, Matt and Amy double-teamed me. I've had some weird and bad interviews in my life but this was close to worst. They were asking me questions I had no idea how to answer. So rolling with the punches I tried my best... I never got into my groove and confidence slipped quicker than the president's approval rating. I will know by next Monday if I got the job. What is the worst interview anyone had? Here are my top three:
- GeoTrack: Started out okay but after hearing them explain all my responsibilities I tried to tell them that they were probably looking for someone more qualified because I had no idea how to do anything they were describing me. End result - Hired.
- TFC: It was hot and I was wishing I had put on more deodorant, half praying sweat stains would not appear while explaining my long term professional goals and how I would evaluate a high school transcript. End result - Pending.
- TCIS: After a hard day's work and study for senior paper *shudder* I crawled into my bed around 2am hoping that the next day will be better when the phone rings and its the boarding director wanting to interview me. Brain had already shut down, wish I had tape recorded my answers because I have no idea what I told him. End result - Hired.
Ironically, these are my most recent jobs... Lord I hope this is not a developing trend.

random shoutout~ YES!!!
worst interview: an over-the-phone
interveiw for a tv spot as a foreigner
on a korean culture show. after speaking
english for a bit she started speaking
korean to test my skills. i held up okay
through about the 2nd question...then down
hill from there. down down hill. and she
wouldnt stop speaking korean even after i
said in english that i think she must be
looking for someone with more korean skills.
ugh. that knocked down my whole idea that i
was going to be able to hold any sort of
conversation.
i haven't had an y bad interviews, just lots of bad parttime jobs....Kroger cashier, clothing store clerk, toy store, waiter at Shoney's.....(probably the best and worst at the same time) ...and the list goes on...weirdest thing ever said to me in an interview....at Kroger...well we'd probably hire you as a cashier instead of a bag boy.....you're not like those bag boy guys...hope that was a compliment
Awwww, you're so sweet:)
Worst interview: I went into "My Favourite Ice Cream Shoppe" at the age of 15 to see if they were hiring. A man named Rork--who at a later date, at one point in my shift, kicked me in the shin--interviewed me over the counter; ten minutes later, I was in a uniform not unlike those seen in the original Back to the Future, and was scooping ice cream for an entire rowdy baseball team.
i know, i'm super sorry about the huli huli chicken. time always goes by so quickly, and anna wasn't feeling very well, so it was all crazy. if you are still coming up for jen's wedding still, i bet we'll be able to work something out. what tfc position did you apply for? and who are matt and amy? I'm sure you did better than you think.
I don't know if it counts as worst job interview, but I tried to get rehired at a radio station that I had taped my key to a pretty strong resignation letter four months before. They admitted it was their fault I felt like quitting, and they did tell me after I quit "if there is anything they could do for me to let me know." But I guess giving me a job wasn't part of that deal.
