  • BIG HATIN’ ON THE NEWSBOYS!

I detest … no absolutely despise watching the Evening News. Bush-bashing and liberal commentary I can sometimes tolerate but enough with drug commercials about rhumatoid arthritis and high blood pressure… I feel like I’m 86 and need to go lay down.

  • It has been forever since I have drawn anything.   Last week, one of Rachel’s students made a dinosaur out of paper clips so I drew a silly picture of a guy professing his love for all things dino-y.  Needless to say the kid’s brother saw it and  politely requested a one-of-a-kind picture of a motorcycle (why couldn’t he have asked for  Batman/Superman or something?) which I kindly provided.

    Go Tigers!

  • I have recently taken up boxing as a way to get rid of some excess stress in my life.  Here are pics from my first match.

    WHO’S YOUR DADDY, BEOOOTCH?

Yeah I won pretty easily, having Rachel as my wife, you gotta be tough!  Anywho, my next opponent is some bear hugger from Canada.  Back to training!

  • In my family, we all pull a name from a hat for who we’ll be giving a Christmas present to.  Its main purpose was to not break the bank every year.  Its a good tradition, in my opinion and every Christmas turn on the news and listen to the daily guilt report on how the anchors lay it on because retail is always down and “needs to be brought up” because China and Japan’s economy depends us after all.

I’m very thankful that Rach and I are debt free.  Someday I’d like to buy the world a Coke or just fly around it buying lots of cheap stuff in China for the next Christmas.

Oh and yeah Clemson took Florida State to the woodshed Saturday (had it not been for Special teams this game would have gotten ugly).

  • HAIKU FRIDAY

    Blah blah blah blah blah,
this week too tired to think.
    Blah blah blah blah blah.

A long week of work.  I’ve been able to work an hour extra each day but today I am just exhausted.  Brain at “staying alive” and Rachel is not feeling well.

  • Sunday night I took Rach out to see a movie.  We went out to watch The Second Chance hosted at campus church here in Toccoa.  One of my least favorite CCM singer starred in it but we saw a clip that looked entertaining.  Rachel needed a break from her homework and getting to know more people in town is always a bonus.  It turned out very well done.  I thought it would be 85% singing by said least favorite singer but it wasn’t.  He did a good job acting  and his songs weren’t the usual whiny or two centimeters deep crap.  My respect for him grows.

  • HAIKU FRIDAY!!!

    Starship Enterprise.
    Kirk, Spock, McCoy and others…
Star Trek is forty years old!

”Diplomats!  The best kind of diplomat is a fully loaded phaser bank!” – Mr. Scott

Rachel read yesterday’s comment and hastened to remind me that the ratio for guy movies to girl movies has been 3:1 since we’ve been married.  I then reminded her that if it were not for true love that ratio would be up near the 6-7:1.

Her punches are getting harder.  I might have to cut back on the violent movies for her (see its “true love”).

  • Rachel sometimes like to pretend that her back/feet/ or whatever needs a massage calls out  for me.  I was  checking out  my fave website when  her back needed some attention.  I turned around informed her that there will be no back talking in this house.  In the end, Rachel rolled her eyes and her back got a good long massage.

I have learned what true love is:  Its choosing to watch “You’ve Got Mail” for the third time while cuddling on the couch with the wife rather than “Batman Begins” for the fourth.  Its all about sacrifice :)

  • Happy Labor Day… or lack thereof if you got the day off like Rachel and me.  Got back from Death Valley Saturday night after watching Clemson manhandle Florida Atlantic.  We had a great view up top (i.e. kissing heaven) the only downer was having a drunk frat boy fall over me onto this little girl in the row in front.  Security was there in an instant and he was outta there.

Rachel has been uber busy on homework for her master’s class.  Educational Psychology.  She’s doing well.  Its nice not having to be taking classes and working but sometimes I do miss the school environment.  Working hard to put my woman through… it gives me reason to work hard and ask for overtime.  Rachel appreciates.

  • HAIKU FRIDAY!!!

    Football in the air,
catch and run to the end zone.
    Orange in the endzone!

We have Christian music playing at work which is nice.  I heard a song this morning and one of the lines goes, “Whenever you see a shadow, you know the sun is right behind.”  Think about that next time you read the 23rd psalm.  On the downside it seems every 4th song is Steven Curtis Chapman…  he is a great writer/singer and all that but whenever I hear his music I just can’t randomly spoof his music.
