Month: August 2005

  • WEDDING PICS:  Rachel (foreground) is a bridesmaid at Dan & Amy’s wedding.  She looks so beautiful.

And no, I wasn’t “wedding crashing”.

    GETTING SERIOUS:
Last night, Rachel came over and we had a very good conversation where
I shared about my dating history.  It was not easy but open and
honest dialogue with each other is pretty important to the both of
us.  She is very gracious.  Afterwards, we went out to the a
park with a duck pond with a back of saltine crackers and fed the ducks
and fishes.  I had two of the ducks eat right out of my
    hand.

    ON TARGET:  Saturday
afternoon went over to Target to buy school supplies.  Now I’ve
been out of school for two years and getting back into it is a tad
awkward.  Besides trying to find a decent notebook
without Spongebob Squarepants on the front cover, or worse yet, Bratz
*shudder*.  My dear xangan colleague writer, Christine
(who is also a world champion cow tipper from Nebraska), should write
    an
editorial about the image Bratz gives to little girls.  Check out
her site, she loves writing about things…um…er… taboo.
Shopping for this stuff amongst 7 and 8 year olds with their mommies is
very humbling to say the least.

  • I’VE BEEN TICKETED… YAH!:
My Clemson football tickets arrived!  You can say “I got game,
baby!”.  Rachel and I will be at Texas A&M, Boston College,
Miami and Florida State.  These games are guaranteed to be
televised either ABC or on ESPN, so if you look to the farthest point
away from the field on the upper deck, that’s where we’ll be
sitting.  Oh well, the countdown is on!   Woohoo!

    I’VE GOT CLASS:
With my schedule finalized, big thanks
goes out to Marge the great admission counselor for pulling out all the
stops and getting me into the classes I need.  Marge you have been
put on the prestigious “Will’s Christmas card
list.  If you are wanting to be included on the totally exclusive
list you must do something very very great for me.  Yes, its as
    simple as that!

    STOCKING UP:  Yesterday
Mom came down to visit and talked me into investing so I bought 15
shares of Nordstrom stock and within the hour it has gone up 20 cents
    (that’s three dollars profit, folks)!

  • ORIENT-ATION:  My thoughts go out to my friends in Korea as they begin another fun-filled year at TCIS
However I had my own little orientation to attend last night as well as
Greenville Tech hosted career talks which was a two hour seminar about
their PTA program.  For those of you who don’t know, PTA is
Physical Therapist Assistant.  The work is pretty intensive and
lots of hours but I doubt it will be ANYTHING like living with 21 high
school boys in a dorm.  It was intimidating at first but after
awhile my cool returned.  Rachel rode up with me to hear about the
program, it was great to have her there learning about the program’s
timetable so that we could start looking at our “future timetable”.

AS GOOD AS GOLD:  Yep, I
have a neat-o membership to Gold’s gym over in Clemson.  There are
different pricing plans but it ended up costing me $365 for fifteen
months.  I have gone twice already and my arms are ready to fall
off but that is a good thing T-T  Anywho, not to throw out a shameless plug (like someone usually
does with their cosmetic products) or anything but if you are looking
into joining a Gold’s gym, let me know because if I can “sign up” three
peeps in the next 90 day I get a year for free!  How can one beat
that, DSL + big muscles… well not yet anyways *sigh*.

  • PICTURES:  I am finally
connected with DSL… I could never do dial up again after being
spoiled with DSL in Korea.  So here’s a couple pics to keep you
    up-to-date:

    WASHINGTON D.C.

TOP LEFT: Rachel and I at
the Lincoln Memorial  TOP RIGHT: WWII Statue
    BOTTOM LEFT:
JFK Eternal Flame  BOTOM RIGHT: Funny reading sign on the metro
    (click on to enlarge)

    FO’ SIZZLE:  despite the
heat index of 115 while walking around the mall, DC was fun.  We
spent 3 days with Luke and Sarah (friends from our TFC days).
Luke is going into OTS in the marines so it was cool to visit him in
the barracks and hold a M-16 (which is 7.9 lbs in case you needed to
know).  Got to wear a flak jacket and helmet (talk about
heavy).  Yep, it was lots of fun spending quality QT time with Rachel during the 12 hour commute from Louisville.

    SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK:

I got accepted into Greenville Tech
to start studying PTA, maybe it was good grades or the fact that they
get to charge me out of state that got me in but I’m in!  Already
signed up for 2 classes and hoping for 2 more.

    WEDDING BELLS:  Nope, not
mine but Rachel’s brother got hitched Saturday and I had a great time
meeting her extended family from Minnesoooota.  Do they like me…
gee golly, you betcha!  They invited me to come stay with them
when Rachel and her folks travel up to Minnesooota in December.

  • “TOMORROW IS A DAAAY AWAAAY”:  Well after almost 2 solid weeks with out my DSL modem I finally called up Bellsouth to see what the issues were come to find out that the order was somehow conflicted.  Operator Ron, who was interested in my current living status as he grew up in Pendleton, Oregon.  After he shared his lifestory about watching the rodeo and wondering if we had one here his computer froze up.  Long story short my DSL modem has been overnighted free of charge (Thanks Operator Ron) and should be here in the morning!!!  Happy days are here again, I hope.

“GOOING TO THE CHAPEL…”:  This Saturday my Rachel’s brother, Danny is getting married to the charming Amy Fincher over at 1st Alliance, Rach is in the wedding so guess who gets to attend and have a fine steak dinner at the rehearsal dinner, yes me!
