Month: August 2005

  • I rocked the Med Terms exam… don’t know the grade but feeling pretty
good about it.  The class if you couldn’t tell is about Medical
Terminology and you get to memorize such wonderful vocabulary such
as:  osteomalacia (abnormal softening of the bone), colonostomy
(you don’t want to know), ect.  Big thanks to my Rach who is
willing to be my study partner and helped memorize around 60+
words.  I can’t say enough about her.  Well, that’s the first
two chapters, many more to go.

  • PAPER CUTS:  Libraries and I do NOT get along. Period.  Trying to research a topic is a serious pain in the arse.  Currently trying to write a paper about stem cell research, I have spent nearly 3 hours looking for books, magazines, anything to put down as a source… even thought about asking the old guy in the corner wearing the fishing hat (they’re in every library).  This whole paper/library anxiety episode started back during my senior year at college… For my senior paper *shudder* I spent 7-8 hours in the library a day, six days a week for the whole semester only to fail the class.  Yeah, I missed out on some fun times with my friends… I hate writing papers.  So everyone used to tell me that I should be a writer but I quickly put a stop to that.  Ugh!  Just thinking about senior year just raises my blood pressure… I think I need a milkshake.

CLEMSON FOOTBALL:  Yep, its game week here in Clemson.  I so cannot wait.  Getting away from it all in Death Valley for a few hours is heaven to me… the game starts at 8pm so no sun burns… of course I’ll have to get up early the next day to make it to community group.  The more I visit Clemson Community Fellowship the more I like it, its very very small and Ken is pretty cool and outgoing… I was talking to him the other day and he was practically begging me to take him to one of the Clemson home games this season.  I doubt Rachel can/wants to go to all the games.  During my free/procrastinating time I’ve been reading about some of the offseason changes to the team’s practices, learning about the players, who they are, where they are from… now some women in the world thing this is a silly waste of time and others think its pathetic.  However, last Sunday, mom, nana, Rachel and I were over at Dyar’s restaraunt and the next table to us there was this dad who was explaining to his 5 year old son that he and his mommy will be gone to the game and that he will have to be in bed early.  Now I’m normally not a outgoing person but I started talking to him about the game, where he was sitting and whatnot.  Who knew such things really pull people together… Thanks God ^^  So if you are like aforementioned person then  on you… that’s my word, take it foo!

  • FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS:
Friday night, my mom, dad, Rachel and I went out to Wren High School to
watch my cousin play football.  It was awesome… well except for
the part that they lost but nonetheless you must understand that Rach
having been born and raised in West Africa, football is quite unlike
anything she’s used to… however she is truly beginning to understand
it and enjoy it!  Despite what some people
think about sports, God used it in a major way to bring me to
Him.  That is a story for another time, but I digress.  Cody
starts at cornerback and does a pretty good job.  It was great to see my cousin, Kristie and her football lovin’ husband, Curtis.

LEFT: Cody (#12) waiting for the offense to lose the ball again.  RIGHT: Rach and I in the stands

“WE ARE FAMILY”… BUT WHO ARE YOU?:  Got
up early Saturday to drive an hour and a half to Hendersonville, NC for
another family reunion… unlike the previous one where I only knew 2-3
people I knew nobody.  Thankfully Rach was with us to play
cards.  We ate too much and met a couple people… it was sad that
the guy who organized the event gave the business aspect saying he was
glad to see some young people there so that the reunion can grow next
year (as he looked at me) and I realized that  Rach and I were the
only  “young people” there.  *sigh*  The food was great
though the diet was thrown out the window *double sigh*

GOOGLE GETTIN’ GHETTO, FO SNIZZLE MY NIZZLE!:  Good news for all you thug-lovers and gang bangers out there!  Now you can research stuff, here is where I lived for two years… enjoy!  Go to gizoogle.com.

  • SICK OF IT ALL:  Today in
Medical Terminology, I almost got sick looking at all the pictures of
veins all-the-while trying to memorize disorders and illness (I was
hoping all the smelly bowls of ramyun from the dorm would have given me
    an iron stomach)
Ironic that I am going into a health-related career but veins and blood
still get to me (the sad part was they were just drawings).  So I
had to leave the classroom to get some
    air, ah freedom.

    MEDICAL TERM YOU WON’T FORGET.

    SECOND THOUGHTS:  I can
see this class will be a thorn in my side, so I am praying for the
strength to persevere through.  I really want to start my
observations because these classes are so not interesting.  Though
I am enjoying my Intro to Computer class because I get to see all the great and wonderful people
who post on my site.  Back to the class, get this, the prof
calls on me like 2-3 times every class to answer a question or if I
    could do
something meanwhile my hand isn’t raised… I guess she knows I’m
someone who will understand her computer humor.  Today she was
telling how a dot-matrix printer is a type of impact printer.  She then
asked me what I would do with one, I replied, “chuck it out a window
and buy a laser jet.”  She found that funny ^^

  • PUTTING THE “STUD” IN STUDY:  This goes out to the dorm students at TCIS
As their year kicks off with well another year of homework, tests,
projects and activity club Mondays.  As I have become a student
myself, I thought I would offer some hints about getting good grades!

Which method is the most productive to studying?

If you guessed the third picture… you are correct… but to tell the truth, I’m pretty good at all four of them.

Its nice to not have anyone coming around making sure I’m doing my study hall, especiall this guy, this guy, this guy (sorry Ted, I don’t know the name of your site but I did find this), or any dorm parents.  Anywho, this is my life now, pretty exciting huh?  Bah!

  • REPUBLICAN ROAST:  Got a invitation in the mail yesterday to the 2005 Anderson County Republican Party Red, White, and Bluegrass Barbeque
The featured guest is Gov. Mark Sanford and Dixie Storm bluegrass
band.  While I am a conservative Republican (though not as staunch
    as her), having just moved
to the area from Korea… I think I will pass on becoming a “smokehouse
sponsor” at a cost of $500… though I would get 8 tickets, a reserved
table, listing in the program, all event signage (whatever that is),
and recognition from the podium *woo hoo*… tempting… I know.

    NEW CHURCH:  Since I moved
down to Pendleton, I found this pretty neat little church called
Clemson Community Fellowship.  I’ve been thrice and the people
have been pretty cool, just coming up to say hi.  I always dread
meeting the sweet old lady (there’s almost one in every Baptist church)
who meets you at the door and repetively says to every newcomer “WE’RE
so glad to have you visiting.”… I have never done this but I would
love to reply in a loving voice, “Who’s WE?”  If I was bolder I
would then lean forward and ask her if she normally talked in the
    second person.

Ken, the pastor, has really gone out of his way to welcoming me.
He comes over and talks with me (and actually remembers things I’ve
already mentioned before).  He’s been wanting to get together with
me for a couple weeks.  We’ll see.

Hope everyone in Daejon is having fun ^^

  • READING RAINBOW:  I’m updating right before Intro to computers… talk about a killer reading schedule.  I will have to have read for my Intro classes book pages 4-68 by Monday, 69-147 by Friday… you get the picture.  Well, class is about to start… but don’t take MY word for it.  The day has gone on pretty well, biology prof talks way faster than my hand can write… well its been how many years since I’ve actually had to dictate notes?  Left hand is tired… must keep… going.

  • CLASSES START:  Yesterday was the first day at Greenville Tech.  I had vague notions of one of my fave shows.  Lost.  Though, it was without man-eating tropical polar bears there was a bald guy who knew what’s going on but wasn’t telling.   Sitting in a desk again listening to a teacher brought back memories of days long ago.  So in conclusion, nobody tried to steal my lunch money and didn’t trip going down the stairs.  A good day indeed!

    Ever have that “boxed-in” feeling?

Can’t wait for season two to start off… check your local listings folks!  I will miss watching it with him, her, her, him, him

  • SOUTH PARK… I MEAN KOREA:  Kudos to Bethany, I had the same idea but she had a head start on me.  I found this awesome generator on Christine’s
page.   Even though C&J dorm no longer exists… I am
thankful for the great people I worked with, we managed to survive the
year… for those in SK, see if you can tell who’s who
